Trying to make reading cool again. Jury is still out. |
If you haven’t figured this out by now, I LOVE reading a good Jackie Collins novel to kick off the summer. There really is nothing like her over the top story lines and ridiculously stereotypical characters. I honestly can’t get enough of it. After a good Jackie Collins novel, I am ready to take on the world.
Hollywood Divorces is quintessential Jackie Collins. There is the glamorous movie star who has problems with her alcohol and drug addicted mega-star husband. There is the fiery Latina superstar who quickly finds herself bored with her tennis player husband after a five month long marriage and finds herself back in the arms of her drug dealer ex-boyfriend. And finally, we have the spunky, young talented director who finds great cinematic success but less success with her current rock star husband. Wow. That was a whole lot of character.
There is love, sex, drugs, violence and more. Surprisingly, I thought this was one of her more tame books. The plot lines are still ridiculous, but not as much as some of her other books. The characters are wild but for some reason they seemed almost realistic. Weird. Hollywood Divorces is an enjoyable read. It’s always fun to read about other people’s problems in order to escape whatever you have going on in your life. Collins once again delivers exactly what I expected from her- a fun, fast read that I can’t seem to put down.
