Trying to make reading cool again. Jury is still out. |
“Bad experiences make you appreciate the less bad ones.”
This novel by Jane Heller centers around Ann Roth who is an entertainment reporter from L.A. Her boss tells her she needs to step up her game, or she was going to be out the door. He tells her that she needs to get an exclusive interview with Malcolm Goddard- the current Hollywood “It Guy.” There is only one problem… he hates the media and refuses to do interviews with anyone. One thing leads to another (some random flying phobia plays a part in this) and Ann gets fired from her job. She finds herself back in the small town she grew up in when SUDDENLY, Malcolm turns up at the local hospital with a heart condition! Obviously, this is her chance at the big story. SO REALISTIC.
I just didn’t really connect with the characters or storyline in Some Nerve. I got through the whole book but didn’t really get anything out of it. It’s pretty unrealistic and extremely predictable. I could actually see this book made into a movie or a new CW TV series. Not that much substance or depth here. But, it is entertaining enough and is a nice, easy, light read for the summer.
Note: Man, I’m on a not that great reading streak here. I need to find something AMAZING already! Definitely hitting a bit of a reading slump here… Must get my summer reading list together already and start tackling some new books!
