Trying to make reading cool again. Jury is still out. |
I read pretty much all of the Gossip Girl books in high school. I closely followed the lives of B, S and N. I said “xoxo gossip girl” on a regular basis. Psycho Killer is just a revamped version of the first Gossip Girl novel. In case you don’t remember the original, Serena is coming back from boarding school and Blair still doesn’t know that over the course of one summer, her boyfriend, Nate, slept with Serena. DRAMA. Blair and Serena really are the original frenemies. Psycho Killer injects a dose of Dexter into GG. Instead of just talking about people behind their backs, Serena and Blair take to killing people.
This book is violent and ridiculous and but yet still hilarious. In the original series, if Blair didn’t like you, she would just shun you and never invite you to another benefit again. But now, if Blair dislikes you, she will take out a knife and stab you. I’m not kidding you this book is ridiculous. If you were a fan of the original series, I’m sure you will enjoy this fun revamp. It takes you down memory lane too, since so much has happened since that first book.
I did enjoy this book. It’s funny to read your favorite novels with new twists. Definitely go into this with an open mind- it’s a strange book. But for true GG fans, this will be a real treat.
Oh and p.s. Team Blair for life!
